• Everybody should know by now that the worst ennemy of player is lag,
and this is caused for major parts by too many polys in view (polycount)
or also too many lightsources. Now you want all those lights (visible) in your
map just to create the effect you need.

Lights and lightsources are not the same. A lightsource only puts the light,
lightcolor and effect there where you need it, and makes also the shadows. The processor makes the engine then calculate what poly or surface will have
what amount of light of what color, and what amount of shadow will be cast
on what poly at what place and so on and so on.

It's w huge work the comp does for you and this for each players separately.
Without you knowing what he really does, the processor is really tortured and
suffers in silence. Now what you can do is put less lightsources and make fake lights.

    What's a Bull's Fakelight ????

it's a very simple thing that came to my tortured imagination when looking
how anything works. Same as for meshes. put one light in that place, give
it it's color and effect. Then where you need the lights to be visible,
i mean » lensflare lamp or such, not the actual lightmaker (lightsource).
put some deco, a small one cos this one will have another shape and that
    is the meaning here.

Take Actor » Decoration » Candle
open it's properties » display » then do this
In the texturebrowser choose a flare effect example
    Textures » Btopack » FlareFX » utflare5

in the candle properties set this »

    DrawType » DT_Mesh becomes DT_Sprite
    ScaleGlow » 1 change to 2
    Style » STY_Normal change to STY_Translucent
Texture » use the "utflare5" from FlareFX of Botpack

and look now, you got a lesnflare without a lightsource »
    The advantages here are

» No temporary light codes stored, so no more UED crash when navigating
in 3D view without light rebuild. » No light and shadow resources to be calculated resulting in no lag for
this element. You can place hundreds of these in same location, no lag at all.

So, try it and you will see that it is very nice sight Only one very small prob is, the lensflare or corona effect does not varie in size when you get closer, but what do you prefer, some small effect prob or a big lag ??

Bull » the only one that makes magic.
Still thousand of tricks awaits anyone interested.
