• If you want to create a New Texture, the first by default that will be loaded in the dialog box will be a Fire Texture.

  • Very important at this point yet, is to know what size you like it to have. This kind of texture does not need a source texture, but other procedural textures do, so better know the size of the source befrore making the new procedural texture

  • Both new and source textures got to have identical sizes. In the case of the Fire Texture it does not take effect, however you will need to put the right size as for any other texture as you cannot change this within the Texture Browser.

  • You will then see another window show up, the texture properties.
As expected you will see exactely the same options as for any other simple texture, except that you will find some option called "FirePaint".

  • This is the option that contain all the settings you can use to "create" the Fire Effects.

  • Now something that should be explained later, but if i do so, many people wil ask how to clear the current effects, how to make the changed effects take action, and why it seem not to start, this has been asked already so many times, so i will just explain it now.
It's a very small and simple thing, the "clear" button right under the preview area at lefthand.

  • So, you put some settings just to see first what effect they produce before you change these to the settings you really need.
Question : how does it start and where do we see the effects.
  • The Big Square at lefthand is the "Preview Area.
  • According to the Type of Procedural Texture you have created, you may now leftclick or drag inside this "Preview Area", the effcts are not immediately produces, so wait a couple seconds.
  • When you change the settings in the right panelside, the effects will not start immediately, so you will first have to leftclick the "Clear" button below the "Preview Area" and wait untill all effects are lowered to none, showing a flat image again.
  • Leftclick or drag again inside or over the "Preview Area" and wait untill it starts.
  • You may repeat these steps untill you get satisfying settings.

  • Now as for the effects settings, i could explain these, but as everything is always better when you just try, it would be the best way just to play around with these settings to see what each do, the names of the setting options are very obvious.
Just try them out one by one, and discover, this is the best way to learn.
Some effects i will explain :
  • bRising : False will keep the effects at their base, True will make'm rise to fill the square.
  • FX_Heat : is the intensity of the effect.
  • FX_HorizSpeed and FX_VertSpeed are the speed the particles move.
  • RenderHeat : how far the anti-aliasing goes from the effect to the unused space.
  • 29 SparkTypes are set as predefined sets, have fun with it.
